Prom Queen – Prom is a wonderfully magical time in a young woman’s life

Our annual Prom Queen event provides girls with a better perspective of how an evening at prom can be elegant, safe, and fun. The event is divided into several sessions including prom night prevention (abstinence/safe sex & drug use), etiquette training, dance lessons, makeup tips, and a fashion show displaying affordable dress options.

The Raw, The Real – The Male Perspective on Girl/Boy Relationships

The Raw, The Real, allows young ladies to discuss their dating concerns, and hear a male perspective on girl/boy relationships. The event is administered in three sessions: Love vs. Crush, Healthy vs. Unhealthy, and Make-up vs. Break-up. An all-male panel discussion concludes the day. The goal of this event is to teach young ladies about healthy, balanced relationships.

Service Learning Month – Giving Thanks, Giving Back

Thanksgiving is a time of the year not only reserved for loved ones, but also a time to remember and aid those less fortunate. Assist Her, Inc. partners with Chicago Cares, the city’s premier volunteer organization, to provide high school students with opportunities to support their communities and receive service learning hours. The young ladies write essays about their experiences and present them at the Giving Thanks, Giving Back Fundraiser held annually in November.

Take Care of Your Hair Affair

Women and girls alike spend gratuitous amounts of time, energy, and money in keeping up with the latest hairstyle trends, many times without regard to proper hair care. As a result, many young women experience damaging hair issues such as excessive breakage, shedding, premature balding, etc. The Take Care of Your Hair Affair encourages young women to become more mindful of the overall health and maintenance of their hair. Participants receive complimentary hair services and take part in the workshop series, “Stop Unhealthy Stresses on Your Tresses! Adopt a Healthy Hair Regime” while discussing healthy hair care options and techniques.
