About Assist Her, Inc.
“Our mission is to embrace the uniqueness of each and every girl, recognize the challenges she faces, and assist her in the personal journey of discovering her strengths, talents and inner wisdom.”
Assist Her, Inc. is an Illinois non-profit organization dedicated to raisin awareness of issues unique to the lives of girls between the ages of 12-18 years. Assist Her, Inc. offers prevention, literacy, and mentoring programs, as well as customized workshops for parents, schools and organizations, professional development training, and community events.
Through our programs, we commit to empowering every girl to develop and express her greatest strengths. The adolescent years can be rather difficult for young girls, and many often struggle with insecurities, lack of guidance, and depression. Our programs are designed to lead each girl toward discovering her “true self” – a young lady who possesses compassion, creativity, positive self-image, and courage.
All of our professionally-trained program facilitators and college interns hold at minimum a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and are directly monitored by state-licensed supervisory staff – thus constantly insuring proper delivery of our programs’ objectives.
At Assist her, Inc. we strive to:
- Explore self, community, culture, and the surrounding environment through group experiences and creative arts
- Facilitate a process for girls to learn about themselves through their relationships with other girls and the universal issues they share.
- Encourage girls to recognize their right of choice and initiate consequential thinking.
- Provide girls with real life information and exposure that will assist in creating a well-rounded young woman destined for success.
Assist Her, Inc. has three major programs and related workshops:
- The G.U.R.L. Project
- Ready for Life Leadership Council
- Books Before Boys
- Professional Workshops
